CAMERA ASSISTANT for ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
Telegael wishes to recruit a Camera Assistant for a stop-motion animated feature film to be produced at its studios in Galway, Ireland.
MORTEN is the first stop-motion animation feature film ever to be produced in Ireland. The film is an enchanting adventure about a young boy who finds himself magically shrunken and Captain of his own toy ship. Featuring the voices of Brendan Gleeson, Ciarán Hinds, Pauline McGlynn, Tommy Tiernan, Jason Byrne and other leading Irish talent, the film is an international co-production with Nukufilm in Estonia and Grid VFX studios of Belgium.
The successful candidate will have at least three years' experience in a similar role as well as experience in animation production. Experience of using motion control rigs would be a distinct advantage.
The job commences in September 2016 at Telegael’s stop-motion studios, located at Tully Industrial Estate, Baile na hAbhainn, Galway. The position is a fixed term contract of 7 - 8 months duration.
Job Description - The successful candidate must:
- have good communication skills
- be able to take direction and work as part of a team
- be able to carry out instructions with great accuracy and attention to detail
- be able to work under pressure
- be able to frame and compose shots
- have good IT skills
- understand the requirements of the relevant health and safety legislation and procedures
- set up cameras, select and mount lenses
- liaise with the Director / DOP / Line Producer
- operate a crane and counterbalancing arm
- lay dolly tracks
- look after basic maintenance of the camera and attached cables, as well as lights and lighting equipment
Requirements:
- Industry experience working as a Camera Assistant preferably with prior experience in stop-motion animation.
- Comprehension and experience of the animation industry and its various platforms.
- Motion Control Rig experience is advantageous
- Advanced level of understanding of the technical processes involved in film production.
